Project Overview

Matatiki Hornby Centre is a vital community hub that partnered with Sunshine Solar to revolutionise its energy consumption. The centre houses a library, pool, fitness facilities, and community spaces—now operating almost entirely on solar during peak sunlight hours.

This installation features 640 high-efficiency solar panels strategically placed across the facility’s expansive rooftops, generating clean energy that significantly reduces the centre’s reliance on grid power.

The project demonstrates Christchurch City Council’s commitment to sustainability and serves as a model for other public facilities looking to reduce their environmental impact while achieving substantial cost savings.
