What Happens After 3 Years?
Unlike other banks, ANZ gives you flexibility after the initial term. You can choose to move your loan to:
- Special rate: ANZ’s discounted fixed rates
- Standard rate: ANZ’s standard fixed rates
- Floating rate: Variable rate that moves with the market
This flexibility is an advantage — you’re not locked into a specific rate at signup. However, it also means your future rate isn’t guaranteed.
Tip: Monitor interest rates as you approach the end of year 3, and speak with ANZ about your options before the term ends.
How Does ANZ Compare to Other Banks?
| Bank | Max Loan | Rate | Term | Rate After |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ANZ | $80,000 | 1% | 3 years | Flexible choice |
| BNZ | $80,000 | 1% | 3 years | ~8.69% floating |
| Westpac | $50,000 | 0% | 5 years | 5% |
| Kiwibank | No limit | ~8.5% | Flexible | Same |
ANZ vs BNZ: Nearly identical terms, but ANZ offers more flexibility in choosing your post-term rate. BNZ’s floating rate is clearer upfront.
ANZ vs Westpac: ANZ offers $30,000 more borrowing capacity, but Westpac has 0% interest for 5 years. If your system costs under $50k, Westpac is the better deal.
